We stopped at Beacon Rock State Park near Skamania Washington to hike Beacon Rock this afternoon. The trail is 2 miles round trip with 800 ft of gain. We drove to Rowena Crest, between the Dalles and Hood River, to hike the short Shasta Loop Trail (one mile). It was very windy making it difficult to get good photos of the wildflowers. Beautiful area! Views along the trail

We drove out to Mill Creek Ridge Preserve to see the wildflowers. We hiked mostly along the trail to the northwest up on the ridge, then up to the top of the knoll along the southeastward trail before returning, our route was 3.4 miles with 350 ft of overall gain. We drove to Catherine Creek to hike the lower loop trail. We went clockwise around the loop. Lots of wildflowers and views of the Columbia River. Views as we hiked around the trail including a waterfall on Catherine Creek .
