Ultimate showdown: UPC presumes Amazon is in breach of injunction, gives until Friday to back down; meanwhile, Disney may be settling with InterDigital

Amazon faces the risk of a bench order right on Friday, with the maximum initial penalty amounting to €50M (plus a daily fine of up to €500K), and it could even be increased further in the event of continued disobedience.

Apparently the only way for Amazon to avoid this, short of taking a license from InterDigital, is to reduce the UK claim to a request for a mere advisory opinion.

Separately, a short-notice cancelation of an InterDigital v. Disney trial could be a harbinger of a settlement.
