Payment system lawsuit against Target; UK antisuit court order; Nokia deals with Stellantis and Huawei; Merz appeals pharma PI denial

1) Premium: Target sued in Eastern District of Texas over payment system patent infringement

Cardtek (PayCore) has sued U.S. retailer Target in the United States Districs Court for the Eastern District of Texas over the alleged infringement of three of its patents related to payment systems.

It was already clear during the recent Amazon v. InterDigital hearing in London that the UK antisuit injunction would remain in place.

3) Free: Nokia signs bilateral wireless patent licensing agreement with automaker Stellantis, acquires WiFi 7 patents from Huawei

In a blog post today, Nokia’s Chief Licensing Officer for Wireless Technologies, Susanna Martikainen, announced that the company has signed a bilateral patent licensing agreement with Stellantis – its fourth major WLAN license deal with an automaker this year – and acquired several of Huawei’s WiFi 7-related patents.

4) LinkedIn: Merz appeals denial of preliminary injunction against Viatris to UPC CoA

The question of how far a pharma patent holder has to go in terms of keeping an eye on potential future infringements will be central to this appeal.
