New UPC preliminary injunction, new major U.S. patent lawsuit, and more

On this extraordinarily busy day, we have even more news to share with you, from the UPC and the U.S.:

1) UPC’s Dusseldorf LD hands down preliminary injunction against surgical tool: real (not just default) judgment if party stays away from hearing

The UPC’s Dusseldorf LD has entered a preliminary injunction over a surgical tool that is a landmark ruling in various ways.

2) Walkie-Talkie maker Voxer sues Amazon, Twitch over video communication patents: previously prevailed over Meta

Voxer previously settled a major patent infringement dispute over similar video communication technologies with Meta in February 2024, after being awarded damages of over $206 million.

3) And please check out our UPC News page from time to time.

There are UPC news items that we post only to our UPC News page (which is basically our weekly UPC Roundup, but you can now see it developing during the week), or only to LinkedIn and that page, but not to our website.

You can always find our UPC News for the current week if you go to the menu on ipfray.com and click (under UPC) on UPC Roundups. The first item is the news page for the present week. Today we added a few smaller items there.

If you don't find it, here's the link to this week's UPC News page: https://ipfray.com/upc-news-week-of-july-14-2025/
