Latest Patently rankings; UPC Roundup; U.S. litfin bill failed -- foreign abuse was pretext

1) Latest Patently rankings: Huawei leads in cellular and WiFi 6; LG overtakes Samsung in 5G; Qualcomm #2 in cellular, #4 in WiFi 6; Ericsson, Nokia remain strong

Patent data and analytics service Patently just released its updated cellular rankings and its new WiFi 5 and 6 rankings.

2) Third-Party Litigation Funding bill failed in U.S. Congress — and “foreign abuse” turned out to be nothing but pretextual

Many members of the litigation finance ecosystem (funders as well as inventors and companies dependent on their support) breathed a sigh of relief a few days ago when the TPLF bill was pulled.

3) UPC Roundup (1 week): incidental infringement standard for medical devices, conditional revocation claims, piecemeal claim narrowing, and other clarifications

This is a summary of developments in and around the Unified Patent Court (UPC) in the week since our January 11, 2026 UPC Roundup.

4) ip fray at Patent LItigation Summit in Amsterdam

Greetings from Amsterdam! We are Kisaco's media partner for this year's European Patent Litigation Summit in Amsterdam, which starts today with a UPC Day, followed by two days with parallel Pharma & Biotech and Tech tracks. We stepped up our coverage of pharma, life sciences and med tech cases in 2025 and will double down in 2026, so this is a good first conference for us for the year. The next major event we will attend is Via Licensing Alliance's Rome Summit in March.
