3) LinkedIn: Longhorn suing Geely in Germany
Longhorn IP announced that its Ox Mobile Technologies subsidiary is suing Geely and its Lynk subsidiary at the Dusseldorf Regional Court, a venue that has not been en vogue for automotive SEP lawsuits lately.
4) Update on Nokia v. Paramount & Warner Bros. Discovery
The High Court of Justice for England and Wales held a hearing on the terms of an interim license. Those hearings, or at least their interesting parts, are not for the public as they discuss numbers. A judgment should issue shortly. Based on the ZTE v. Samsung experience where the UK outcome is far below the determinations made both in China and in Germany, Nokia may have been the last SEP holder, or one of the last few, to submit to UK FRAND jurisdiction. A lot will depend on the resolve with which such courts as the Unified Patent Court push back against UK jurisdictional imperialism. It is too early to tell in what ways China's new anti-overreach regulations will be applied to global FRAND cases, but there is a possibility of Chinese SEP holders having a structural advantage over their U.S. and European counterparts.
