Brazilian SEP cases against Transsion; UPC guidance on intermediate generalization, other questions
1) Transsion facing Brazilian HEVC SEP lawsuits by NEC and JVC, UPC lawsuits by NEC and Sun Patent Trust: all three are Access Advance licensors
NEC is suing Transsion in the UPC and Brazil, Sun Patent Trust only in the UPC and JVC only in Brazil (all of that based on presently known cases). The pattern resembles that of a DivX v. Hisense case that led to a merits-based preliminary injunction in late 2024, spurring a settlement.
2) Unified Patent Court updates: valuable guidance on different legal standards
The Nera v. Xiaomi Technology judgment is out, and the written reasons are instructive regarding intermediate generalization, prior art eligibility, number of auxiliary requests; and in Husqvarna Group v. Positec, the President of the CFI showed a new way to win a language switch to English.
