We are very happy to announce that the the registration for the 10th ANSE Summer University in Budapest is open. The ANSE Summer University with the Theme: “With Words and Beyond – Values and identity in an incomprehensible world”, is organized in cooperation with MSZCT (Hungarian Association of Supervisors and Supervisor-Coaches), KRE (Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church)

We live in an age of permanent change and it is impossible to grasp and understand the events of the present. Day by day we could meet situations in which conditions aren’t simply unstable, they are chaotic. The future is completely unpredictable. The more we try to understand what is happening, the more we feel anxious and overwhelmed. The world around us is incomprehensible. All of this increasingly makes us to question our basic values, even our identity and it is almost inevitable that we must rethink our actions and attitudes. On the one hand, this developing crisis of identity and values is unsettling. It makes easy to fall back on schemes, and prejudices can become stronger. But on the other hand, it also holds opportunities – new approaches and new values can be born, potential to move forward, redesigning and development can open. Some things can be captured with words, and some things are best expressed and experienced without words.

The significance of „beyond words” is growing, and it is important to find other modalities to hold on to in this increasingly incomprehensible world. We invite participants to reflect on this together and to experience practical handholds – “with words and beyond”.

On Monday, April 17, at 16.00 CET, Barbara Ebetsberger will host the 10th ANSE Talent Talk titled “Imagination – A tool to bring desired solution into the present”.

Expect a creative and active Talent Talk in which you will experience new and creative exercises that you can use in your own practice as a supervisor or coach. Of course it is also a way to meet our community and new people and to expand your network!

All participants receive a certificate with 0,5 PE-points. We hope to see you all online!

Call for workshops for ANSE Summer University 2023 Budapest is open.

The Hungarian Association of Supervisors and Supervisor-Coaches (MSZCT) and Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church (KRE) is organising the 10th ANSE Summer University 2023 in Budapest, Hungary. We are delighted to invite you to share your professional experience through leading a workshop, which is strongly connected to the central theme of this Summer University: “With Words and Beyond – Values and Identity in an Incomprehensible World”

What we expect from applicants: We are looking for practice-oriented workshop proposals where the participants can work either with words in a different way than usual, or can experience other modality methods in addition to words, which could be:

• New methodology, model, approach
• New theoretical approach in practice

Language of the workshops: English

Length of the workshops: 1 hour 45 minutes or 2x 1 h 45 m

Arrangement of the workshops:

The same workshop twice on two different days – workshop leaders undertake to offer the same 1 hour 45 minutes long workshop twice for two different groups of participants (not on the same day)

Or a 2x 1 h 45 min long workshop (with a break in the middle) for the same group of participants

At the end of this festive year regarding our 25th anniversary, with the 1st Young Researchers Day, the 9th Summer University in Riga, our 100th Board Meeting, the 19th General Assembly, the 8th President Meeting in Tallinn, 4 Talent Talks, 2 Quality Talks and 2 ANSE Journals,  ANSE board wishes all of you Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for 2023!

From today on, ANSE Journal Volume 6 – 2022 – Issue 2 can be downloaded. You probably haven’t missed it, but when still in doubt you might remember this happy fact from our previous issue: ANSE is 25 years young this year. We joyfully celebrated this in different ways, such as in Riga, during the ably organized ANSE Summer University of 2022. A happy event indeed. With Covid19 apparently fading away, we were finally able to meet in person again. Our Latvian colleagues did their very best to make participants from all over Europe feel welcome to join in the program. And how they managed this! The stimulating environment was not only a joy to the eye, but provided extra inspiration as well. For an impression of the location – the strikingly beautiful National Library of Latvia – please have a look at the photo above. All in all – organisation, environment and content – we can say that everything contributed to a stimulating and instructive conference. Yet although it certainly went fine, the nearby Ukrainian war cast its shadow over the proceedings, over Riga, over the entire Baltics and indeed over all of Europe and beyond. To cite just one example: while the Summer University was in full swing, less than a mile away from the conference venue the megalomaniac “Monument of the Liberation of Soviet Latvia” was brought down unceremoniously. “Good riddance”, most Latvians must have thought. To them, it symbolized the cruel Soviet oppression of the past; a memory made even more horrifying by the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. The conference program, too, allowed ample attention to the situation of our Ukrainian colleagues. It worked! Thanks to you! Saturday 17 September, the 36 suitcases or ‘toolboxes’ belonging to the Yucelmethod, were sent on their way to Ukraine.

Gerian and Frans picked up the suitcases one day before, at Yucel’s company in Baarn. Hidde a driver of the Ukraine Express Foundation, then took the suitcases from Baarn to Groningen. In the early next morning, the drivers Annemijn and Salim, together with translator Alexander headed for Poland. They delivered the toolboxes the next morning in Lublin. Finally, the suitcases were brought to Lviv on Tuesday 20 September. Hereafter, the boxes will be distributed among the superisors in Ukraïne, who will participate in the training.

From October 2022, our 39 colleagues in Ukraine, including the interpreters, will take part in the training of the Yucelmethod, in which they can start working with the toolboxes immediately. The Yucel method literally visualizes burdens and resources, focusing on recovery and self-control. Our Ukrainian colleagues see many opportunities, especially for compatriots, who have a hard time finding words for their experiences. We hope that our colleagues feel encouraged by participating in the training.

Our gratitude goes out to Yucel, for both donating numerous toolboxes and giving the training free of charge. Therefore, we are able to offer three (smaller) toolboxes to the colleagues who will be interpreting in the training groups.

Furthermore, we want to thank the Ukraine Express for delivering the suitcases. This foundation has been completely managed by volunteering students from Groningen, since the start of the war in Ukraine. With the money they raise, they can offer groceries and medicine and cover the costs of the transport. Additionally, they bring back refugees to the Netherlands.

Thanks also to the ANSE and the LVSC for their support. In particular, Anique Laanstra of the LVSC agency. She informed the LVSC members on a weekly basis about our crowdfunding.

Last but not least, we want to thank you for donating so generously and encouraging us. It wouldn’t have been possible without you. 

This is how we have come to the end of the five-week crowdfunding campaign. We are very proud of the end result. It was a fantastic, intensive period in which beautiful things happened: spontaneous unexpected gifts and moving reactions from colleagues and friends.

We are now going to monitor whether all packages arrive safely and whether the training sessions are going as desired. In addition, we will also continue ‘as usual’ with our online supervision groups for Ukrainian colleagues.

We are pleased to present the full program of the ANSE Summer University. All keynotes are known, and there are updates on the workshops. You can find each workshop per day in the PDF and each workshop is offered twice, giving you more opportunities to choose your favourite workshop.

There are currently no covid measures in Latvia, and the threat from Russia to Latvia is also lower than six months ago. So, hopefully, we can convince all those who were in doubt to travel to Riga. We look forward to meeting everyone again in person.

This event offers recent graduates and young researchers the perfect opportunity to network and share their research with the supervision community. But what is history? There are many academic papers on the nature of history, but in the end most of these seem to boil down to this: history is something that is ‘made’ today, recorded tomorrow and reflected on the day after, if at all. History itself is subject to history – or to be more precise – historiography is historical and thus subject to debate today, recording tomorrow and reflection the day after. History is made today. Everywhere. In Ukraine for instance. We have to mention the war against the Ukrainian nation and its people. We cannot introduce this issue without attending to it. It is happening now, nearby, and we want to understand how it affects our friends and colleagues in Lviv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, how they try to go on living, what they need, how we could support them and how it impacts the ANSE community. We all need to make sense of this. In trying to understand what is happening to us, we, too, make history together. Today. To be recorded tomorrow. To be reflected on later…….

However, on Sunday July 3rd, an online Young Researchers‘ Day will be organised by ANSE.

This event offers recent graduates and young researchers the perfect opportunity to network and share their research with the supervision community. We invite researchers from all over Europe to this exchange and look forward to hearing about your research. The day will commence with an interactive discussion with the researchers, facilitated by Brigitte Schigl.

Prof. Schigl shall also give an input on “International research on supervision: Various expeditions – no common map”.

Registration for the poster presentation is required and is open until 10 June 2022.
