In this tutorial, we will learn about how to attach remote file to email using PHPMailer library.

PHPMailer provides a convenient method addAttachment() to attach files to email. However, this method does not work with remote files stored on remote server.

Therefore, we will use other method that will solve issue of file attachment to email from remote server using PHP.

In this guide, we will need to send email using PHPMailer library with remote file attachment. If you are not aware of how to send email in PHP using PHPMailer then you can check out our tutorial about it.

After that we will need to check if file exists on remote server using PHP.

It is important because first we need to make sure that file exists on remote server then we can attach that file in our email.

Use the below code snippet to check if remote file exists using PHP.

$remote_file_url = 'https://www.example.com/pdf/filename.pdf';

// Open file using fopen() function
$file_exist = @fopen($remote_file_url, 'r');

How to Check if File Exists on Remote Server using PHP

Although, PHP provides a build in file_exists() function to check if file exist on server. However, this function is not able to check remote file on remote server.

So how can one check if a file exists from a URL using PHP without file_exists() function.

PHP provides alternatives functions and we will use other methods that will check if remote file exist on remote server using PHP.

There are two ways to check file on remote server in PHP which are listed below:

fopen() Function
cURL Method

1. fopen() Function

The best and the easiest way to check if file exist on remote server is using a fopen() function in PHP.

You can use the following code to check if remote file exist using PHP.

Simple Laravel 10 Database Seeder Tutorial

In this tutorial, we will learn about Laravel Database Seeder by creating a simple and useful Laravel 10 Database Seeder class via PHP artisan with simple and easy step by step guide.

Although, this tutorial is focused on Laravel 10 version. However, you can use the same with Laravel’s previous versions such as Laravel 7, Laravel 8, and Laravel 9 as well.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to create a simple Laravel 10 database seeder with example.

But first, you should know that what is database seeder in Laravel and why do you need Laravel database seeder.

What is Laravel Database Seeder?

Laravel provides a convenient way to seed database which means to insert some testing or required data into your database which is known as database seeder or database seeding.

Suppose you need some data to test your application so you can seed your database with dummy data.

Although, seeding is not only for dummy or fake data. Sometimes your application need some required data to proper function.

For example, if you are building a course registration app so you will need to add some courses data into the database.

Or if you are developing a registration form which requires user to select country, state and city, then you will need to seed these countries, states and cities data into your database.

Otherwise your application will not work correctly because it need some required data to work properly.

Although, you can add these data manually via MySQL. However, this is not a recommended way to add data into database in Laravel.

So lets learn the correct way of seeding data into Laravel 10.

Steps to Create Laravel 10 Database Seeder

Follow the below simple steps to create a simple Laravel 10 Database Seeder.

Install the Laravel 10 App
Configure Database Credentials
Create a Seeder Class in Laravel
Migrate Tables to Database
Running Seeder to Seed Database

1. Install the Laravel 10 App

Open the command prompt window and go to the directory where you want to install Laravel 10 app. For example like below.

cd desktop\workspace

Although, this step is optional, if you already have installed Laravel then you can skip it.

After coming to your desired directory run the below command to install Laravel.

composer create-project --prefer-dist laravel/laravel laravel-seeder

After successfully installing the Laravel, move to your Laravel installation directory by running the below command.

cd laravel-seeder

2. Configure Database Credentials

In this second step, make sure that you configure your database credentials for Laravel 10 database seeder example tutorial.

Just go to the root of your application and update the .env file.

Open the .env file and enter your own database credentials details such as database name, db user and db password.

Database Credentials:

DB_CONNECTION=mysql
DB_HOST=127.0.0.1
DB_PORT=3306
DB_DATABASE=your_db_name
DB_USERNAME=your_db_username
DB_PASSWORD=your_db_password

3. Create a Seeder Class in Laravel

Now, we will create a UserSeeder class to seed our database table user, User Model and Migration are comes with the default Laravel installation.

Therefore, we will not create model and migration for our seeder and we will focus only to seeding database.

Run the below command to create our UserSeeder class.

php artisan make:seeder UserSeeder

This will create a UserSeeder.php file in database/seeders directory.

We have an option to either user Laravel query builder or eloquent to insert data into our table. We prefer to stick with the eloquent model and mass assignment is disabled in database seeders.

So just copy and paste the below code in UserSeeder.php file.

        // Looping and Inserting Array's Users into User Table

As you can see above, we have created array of three users, you can use the above array method to insert either single or multiple records.

4. Migrate Tables to Database

Now, first we need to migrate Laravel tables into our database.

Just run the below command in terminal to migrate all tables to our database.

php artisan migrate

5. Running Seeder to Seed Database

There are two ways to seed our UserSeeder data to our database.

Run Single Seeder Method
Run All Seeder Method

a) Run Single Seeder Method

You can run any single seeder using the below command just by replacing the class name.

php artisan db:seed --class=UserSeeder

In the above example, class name is UserSeeder. The above command will seed our UserSeeder into our database in user table.

After running the above command, check your user table in database to verify the data in database.

At this point, we have successfully created and run the Laravel 10 database seeder with User Seeder example.

Bonus Tips:

Alternatively, you can also use the below command to seed your specific seeder but this command will also drop all tables if exist in your database and then re-run all your migrations and seed your specific seeder.

You can skip the step 4 if you are using the below command.

php artisan migrate:fresh --seed --seeder=UserSeeder

The above command is very useful, if you are completely rebuilding your database along with seed but make sure that it will delete all of your tables data before re-migrating and seeding.

b) Run All Seeder Method

In this method, we can run all seeders in a single command and we can also set the sequence of seeders.

There is a default DatabaseSeeder.php file in database/seeders directory.

Just open this file and paste the following code in it.

call([
            UserSeeder::class,
        ]);
    }
}

We can define multiple seeders in the call method in array in DatabaseSeeder.php file and all seeders will be seeded in our database.

After that run the below command.

php artisan db:seed

Alternatively, you can also use the below command to seed all seeders along with rebuilding the database by dropping all the tables and then re-migrate them into our database.

php artisan migrate:fresh --seed

In this tutorial, we will learn about Laravel CRUD operations by developing a complete Laravel 10 CRUD application with simple, easy and step by step guide.

You can implement this Laravel CRUD operations in Laravel 8, 9 and 10 versions. This code will work in all of these versions and hopefully will work in Laravel 11 as well.

In this example, we will use the Laravel 10 with the latest Bootstrap 5.3 version.

What is CRUD?

In the field of computer programming, Create, Read, Update, and Delete (CRUD) are the four basic and main operations of persistent storage.

This means if you are developing an application via computer programming then in almost all cases, you are actually building a CRUD applications.

Create: When you build an application, it will create new record that will store in your database which is a persistent storage.

Read: After saving that information in your database, you will need to display that record to the user for reading purpose.

Update: You may also need to update this record to rectify the information into your database.

Delete: And finally, you may want to delete that record if it is no longer required.

In this tutorial, we will create a products table using Laravel 10 application and perform CRUD operations on it that will store all product information such as product code, name, quantity, price and description.

We will add new product, view products, update product and delete products from database.

Follow the below easy steps to create a simple Laravel CRUD application.

Install Latest Laravel App

Update Code in Product Model

Run Laravel Development Server

1. Install Latest Laravel App

Open the command prompt/terminal window and head to the directory where you want to install Laravel 10 CRUD application. For example like below.

cd desktop\workspace

To install Laravel, you must have installed composer in your system. If you don’t have it then first learn how to install composer on windows 11.

Install the Laravel 10 application with name laravel_10_crud by running the below command on your command prompt/terminal window.

composer create-project --prefer-dist laravel/laravel laravel_10_crud

After that first move to that newly created directly by running the below command.

cd laravel_10_crud

2. Configure Database Credentials

In this step, we need to configure database credentials for Laravel 10 CRUD app. Update the .env file which is available on the application root directory.

Open the .env file and enter your own database credentials details.

Database Credentials:

DB_CONNECTION=mysql
DB_HOST=127.0.0.1
DB_PORT=3306
DB_DATABASE=your_db_name
DB_USERNAME=your_db_username
DB_PASSWORD=your_db_password

Make sure that you have already installed MySQL database and PHP 8.1 in your machine, if you don’t have it then you can get it by installing XAMPP on Windows 11.

3. Create a Model with Migration, Resource Controller and Requests for Validation

Now, we need to create a Model, Migration, Resource Controller and Requests for Validation of products table.

We can create each of these individually, but we can also create them just by running a single command on terminal/command prompt which will create them in a single go.

Just run the below command:

php artisan make:model Product -mcr --requests

In here –m flag is for migration of the Model, cr flag is for a resource controller, and –requests to create custom requests for resource controller which will create both store and update requests for validation.

You will get the following message on your terminal after running the above command.

4. Update Product Migration

We need to update product migration, just navigate to the directory laravel_10_crud\database\migrations and there you will see our product migration file like below.

Open this file and paste the following code in it.

5. Migrate Tables to Database

After creating the product migration, we need to migrate tables into our database.

All you need is to run the below command in your terminal to migrate all migrations tables along with products table.

php artisan migrate

6. Define Product Resource Routes

In this step, we will need to define our product resource routes in web.php. Copy and paste the below code in your routes/web.php file.





After defining the routes, you can check your application routes by running the below command.



php artisan route:list



After running above command, you will see something like below:







7. Update Code in Product Model



Just go to the app\Models\Product.php and update the following code in Product.php file.







We need to assign column names to $fillable to use mass assignment, otherwise Laravel will not add data into our product table if we use Eloquent to add records.



8. Update Code in Product Controller



In this step, we will update our Product Resource Controller which have sever (7) methods in it to perform CRUD operations in our Laravel 10 application.



By default, the following methods will be in our resource controller.




index() -> To list all of our products.



create() -> To display a create new product form.



store() -> To store our new product form data into database.



show() -> To display a single product with details.



edit() -> To display the product edit form.



update() -> To update the product data into database.



destroy() -> To delete the product from database.




Just copy and paste the below code in app\Http\Controllers\ProductController.php file.

Now, we need to update code in our product store and update requests.

These both files are responsible to validate the data before adding/updating record in database.



Although, we can validate our data in our product controller as well but as per SOLID principle, it is a recommended to make a class for single responsibility principle.



So we want you to learn the right way of web development which is recommended by the industry.



10. Enable Bootstrap 5 in AppServiceProvider



As we are using Bootstrap v5.3, some of its feature will not work until you explicitly call it in App\Providers\AppServiceProviders.php file.



We need to add Paginator::useBootstrapFive(); in boot() method, just copy paste the below code in AppServiceProviders.php file.







11. Create Product Resource Blade View Files



Now we will create a products directory in resources/views/ directory and then create the following product resource blade view files in it.




layouts.blade.php



index.blade.php



create.blade.php



edit.blade.php



show.blade.php

In this tutorial, I will show you how to accept only numbers on dynamically added input fields.



When you are working with forms, you may need to take input as a number, and for the client side validation, you can easily apply validation on the input fields in your form.



I have previously shared a tutorial on how to insert only numbers using jQuery. But this code will only work with those fields which are already available in the HTML form when the page is loaded.



When you need to accept only number on dynamically added input fields using jQuery, then you will need to attach the event when the new element is added dynamically to the DOM.

Follow the below steps to accept only numbers on dynamically added input fields using jQuery.




Include jQuery Library

1. Include jQuery Library



The most important thing is to load the jQuery library in your application code.



Simply create an index.html file and copy paste the following code in before closing the body tag.

In this step, I will add an age input field in the HTML table row so that when I add new dynamically created age input field, it will be added to a same HTML table in a new row.

3. JavaScript for Adding Dynamic Age Input Field



To explain the tutorial in a more better way, I am also showing you how to add dynamic input fields so that I can check if these dynamic fields are accepting only numbers or not.

You will need to make sure this JavaScript code must come after the jQuery library.







4. JavaScript for Accepting Only Numbers on Dynamically Added Input Fields



This is the actual JavaScript code of this tutorial which will validate that the value must be a number in dynamically added input fields.

Laravel 10 User Registration with Email Verification

In this tutorial, I will show how to create a custom user registration with email verification in Laravel 10 with easy step by step guide.



You can implement custom Laravel email verification in Laravel 8, 9 and 10 as well. This code is compatible in all these Laravel versions.



Although, Laravel UI package makes it easy to create user registration with email confirmation by using Bootstrap Auth Scaffolding and implementing a MustVerifyEmail contract in your user Model.



I have previously shared a tutorial on how to implement a Laravel bootstrap auth scaffolding with email confirmation. However, if you are implementing a custom user registration then you will need to implement a custom email verification method as well.



I have also shared a Laravel custom user registration and login tutorial. So, now in this tutorial, I will use the approximately same code for custom user registration in Laravel and make some necessary changes to implement a custom email verification in our Laravel 10 application.

Steps to Create Laravel 10 User Registration with Email Verification



Follow the below easy steps to create Laravel custom user registration with email verification.




Install Latest Laravel App



Configure Database and SMTP Credentials



Implement MustVerifyEmail Contract in User Model



Migrate Tables to Database



Define Custom Registration, Verification, Home and Login Routes



Create a LoginRegister Controller



Create a Verification Controller



Create Login, Register, and Verification Blade View Files



Run Laravel Development Server




1. Install Latest Laravel App



Open the command prompt or terminal window and go to your desired directory where you want to install the latest Laravel app. I use workspace directory for development.



cd desktop\workspace



You may also follow my tutorial on how to install Laravel on Windows 11. If you do not have idea about how to install Laravel on Windows.



Install the latest Laravel application with name CustomRegisterEmailConfirm by running the below command on your terminal window.



composer create-project --prefer-dist laravel/laravel CustomRegisterEmailConfirm



And then head to the CustomRegisterEmailConfirm directory by running the below command.



cd CustomRegisterEmailConfirm



2. Configure Database and SMTP Credentials



In the second step, I will configure my database and SMTP credentials for my Laravel app. Just update the .env file which is located on the application root directory.



Simply open the .env file and enter your own database and SMTP credentials details like below.



Database Credentials:



DB_CONNECTION=mysql
DB_HOST=127.0.0.1
DB_PORT=3306
DB_DATABASE=your_db_name
DB_USERNAME=your_db_username
DB_PASSWORD=your_db_password



SMTP Credentials:

To work with MySQL database, you must need to have it in your system and PHP 8.1 is required for Laravel 10. 



If your system does not have MySQL/MariaDB/PHP then you can easily get it by installing XAMPP.



Follow my this easy and step by step tutorial on how to install XAMPP on Windows 11 to get MySQL and PHP in your machine.



3. Implement MustVerifyEmail Contract in User Model



Go to the app\Models\User.php and remove single line comment \\ from MustVerifyEmail contract to enable it.



use Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\MustVerifyEmail;



And then implement MustVerifyEmail contract in your User class like mentioned below.

4. Migrate Tables to Database



Laravel comes with the predefined user table schema therefore I do not need to create user migration or model, I will migrate all Laravel basic tables into our database.



Simply run the below command in your terminal to migrate all basic tables.



php artisan migrate



5. Define Custom Registration, Verification, Home and Login Routes



Now in this step, I will need to create my custom user registration, verification, home and login routes. You will need to simply copy paste the below code in your routes/web.php file.

As you can see in the above code, I have also given them relevant names to our each routes for the convenience use in controller and views.



I will implement relevant middleware of each route in the controllers files.



6. Create a LoginRegister Controller



In this step, I will create a LoginRegisterController with the six (6) methods in it, I have discussed all these methods working in my Laravel 10 custom user registration and login tutorial, therefore I will not go into the detail working of these methods.



However, I just made some changes in this controller so that it should work for verification for which I am actually working.



I am also using the Laravel default home route for verified users instead of creating custom dashboard route. This will eliminate extra working on RouteServiceProvider.php



Run the below command to create a LoginRegisterController controller.



php artisan make:controller Auth\LoginRegisterController



This command will create a controller in the app\Http\Controllers\Auth\ directory, all you need is to copy paste the below code in the file app\Http\Controllers\Auth\LoginRegisterController.php

Well as you can see in the above controller code that I have also added a constructor to add the different middleware to our routes, all the routes in this controller are guest except logout and home routes.



These logout and home routes can only be accessed by a registered user. I have additionally applied a verified middleware to my home method only. This will ensure the user have also verified email address as well.



7. Create a Verification Controller



In this 7th step, I will create a controller with name VerificationController with the three (3) methods in it which are listed below.




notice() -> To display the verification notice to a registered user.



verify() -> To perform the email verification when user click on the link on email.



resend() -> To resend the verification email in case if user didn’t receive or deleted the verification email unintentionally.




Run the below command to create a VerificationController controller.



php artisan make:controller Auth\VerificationController



The above command will create another controller in the app\Http\Controllers\Auth\ directory, simply copy and paste the below code in the app\Http\Controllers\Auth\VerificationController.php file.

I have also added a constructor in this controller as well to apply the middleware to my verification routes.



These all routes can only be accessed by a registered users. I have additionally applied the signed middleware to only verify method in this controller.



For resending email verification, I have also applied additional middleware throttle:6,1 to the resend method.



The notice() method will check if user has not verified then display the verification notice otherwise redirect to verified users home route.



The verify() method is using an EmailVerificationRequest, this will automatically handle the validation of the id and hash parameters of request in email verification.



The third resend() method will simply resend verification link to user and display successful message to user on verification notice page.



8. Create Login, Register, and Verification Blade View Files



Now I will create an auth directory in resources/views/ directory and then create the following blade view files in it.

You can change the datepicker attribute format such as dateFormat in your desired format or even can remove these attributes if you do not need them.

How to Implement Custom CSRF Token in PHP

In this tutorial, I will show you how to implement custom CSRF token in PHP.



CSRF stands for Cross-Site Request Forgery, it is a type of attack on application in which hacker submit form on another website from malicious site using HTML form action attribute.



This can delete your record from any website’s database or can access your database records, or even can transfer fund from your bank account to hacker account.



Example of Attack on Website Without CSRF Token:



Suppose, you are currently logged in to yourbank.com and visit the malicious-website.com for reading an interesting or trending article written by malicious website.



This malicious website submit the below hidden form to yourbank.com to transfer fund from your account to hacker’s account.




  
  





If yourbank.com has not implemented the CSRF token then the fund will be transferred from your account to hacker account.



CSRF token protection helps to prevent such attacks on your application.



CSRF token is just a random string that is created in your website session and also submitted via HTML form.



I will simply compare these two strings to ensure that the request is initiated from my own website.



If both strings are matched then the request is authentic otherwise request is invalid.



If somehow hacker manage to find out my CSRF token then hacker can access my website, therefore I will expire CSRF token after 30 minutes.



You can set the expire time as per your need, minimum time is better as if somehow my token is compromised, it will be useless after 30 minutes later.

Additionally, I will also delete CSRF token after the successful operation and creates a new one so that one token can not be used multiple times.



Alternate way to secure your application is automatically logout inactive user in PHP.



Steps to Implement Custom CSRF Token in PHP




Generate a CSRF Token & Embed it in HTML Form



Compare the Session CSRF Token with Form Submitted CSRF Token



Add Some Style to the Form




1. Generate a CSRF Token & Embed it in HTML Form



Before generating a CSRF token, first start the PHP session at the top of the page. After that generate a random string and assign it to session variable.



Here is the code to generate a CSRF token in PHP.



Create a csrf_token.php file and paste the following code in it.







Create an index.php file and paste the following code in it.






Implement Custom CSRF Token in PHP

As you can see in the above HTML form, I have passed the $token in hidden input field named _token which will be submitted along with the form.



2. Compare the Session CSRF Token with Form Submitted CSRF Token



When the form is submitted, first I will check that token is not expired then I will compare both the session CSRF token with the form submitted token, if they both are same then the request is valid.



Add the following code in a csrf_token.php file to cross-check the submitted CSRF token against the session CSRF.

Now install the latest Laravel version with name LaravelAuthConfirm using the below command.

2. Install Laravel UI Package



In second step, before installing the Laravel UI, first change the working directory to the LaravelAuthConfirm location



cd LaravelAuthConfirm



after that install the Laravel UI package using the below command.



composer require laravel/ui



3. Install Bootstrap Auth Scaffolding



In the third step, I will install the Boostrap Auth Scaffolding for creating user registration and login by running the below command.



php artisan ui bootstrap --auth



4. Install and Run NPM Packages



Now as I have successfully created bootstrap auth scaffolding, so first install NPM and then Run NPM using the below commands.



npm install



To run the above npm commands, make sure that you have Node.js installed in your system.



If you do not have installed it, go to Node.js website, download and install Node.js to run npm commands.



When you run the above npm command, it will take few minutes to install node modules on your latest Laravel application.



After that run the NPM RUN Build using the below command.



npm run build



Sometimes, it may ask you to run again npm run build, you can run it again so that it can compile.



For MAC and Linux users, they can run both the commands together like given below.



npm install && npm run build



When the Laravel build is compiled then you will see the following success message on your screen.






5. Implement MustVerifyEmail Contract in User Model



Now, go to the app\Models\User.php and implement MustVerifyEmail contract in it.



Find and remove comment \\ from the below line of code to enable MustVerifyEmail contract.

Then find the following line of code.

And replace it with the following.

6. Secure Auth Routes with Verify in Web.php



Now go to the routes/web.php file and find the below auth routes code.

7. Update HomeController.php Middleware with Verified



In this step, I will update home controller middleware with verified, go to app\Http\Controllers\HomeController.php and find the following line of code.



$this->middleware('auth');



And replace it with the following code.



$this->middleware(['auth', 'verified']);



8. Configure Database and SMTP Credentials



In this step, I will configure my database and SMTP credentials on my latest Laravel application. I will update the .env file which is available on the application root directory.



Just open the .env file and enter your database and SMTP credentials like below.

DB_HOST=127.0.0.1
DB_PORT=3306
DB_DATABASE=your_db_name
DB_USERNAME=your_db_username

Your system must have installed MySQL or MariaDB along with minimum version of PHP 8.1.



If you do not have installed MySQL/MariaDB/PHP then you can install it via XAMPP.

9. Migrate Tables to Database



Now it is the time to migrate the Laravel tables into your database but before that make sure that your database is running on XAMPP.



Simply run the below command to migrate tables in DB.



php artisan migrate



10. Run Laravel Development Server



Finally, you have successfully completed all the required steps to install the latest Laravel app and created Bootstrap Auth Scaffolding with email confirmation.



Now we need to start the development server of Laravel to test our application by running the below artisan command.



php artisan serve

There are three steps that are required to get the visitors IP address and select country using PHP.

1. Create a Database Table of Country & Dump Data



Simply copy paste the below SQL to create a table structure of country which contains country code and name.

Once the structure is created then you will need to add countries data in it. There will be more than 250 entries therefore, I have attached the SQL table in download file.



You can simply download this tutorial and import the SQL table along with countries data.



2. Get the Visitor IP Address in PHP



Previously, I have shown to you how to get the client IP address using PHP. I will use the same method to get the client IP address but with some modification to get the location details.



If you do not have any idea about getting client IP address then I would suggest you to check out my above tutorial.



Create an index.php file and paste the following function in it.

First I am getting the IP address then passing that IP address to a geoplugin.net website which will gives us the location details, there are various websites which provides the location data based on IP.



It will return the countryCode, countryName, region and city and many other details but I will get these details for now as I will only use the countryCode.



Now I have stored countryCode value in $countryCode variable, I have a user’s country code which I will use in the step 3 below.

3. Automatically Select the Visitor’s Country using PHP



First I will display all the countries from database and then check if any country code matches with the code I got from above PHP function using client IP address.



Simply copy paste the below code in index.php







I am using the dbclass.php to fetch data from database, this contains a PDO to get data. I have written a separate tutorial about PDO in PHP.



Make sure that you update the $db_name = ‘database_name’ to your DB name in file dbclass.php.



This class file is added in download of this tutorial. However, if you want to learn more about PDO then check out my tutorial on PHP CRUD Operations Using PDO Prepared Statements.

Example #1: Create a Zip File in PHP and Add Files & Folders



Below is the quick code to create a zip file in PHP and add files and folders in it.

You can add multiple files by repeating $zip->addFile(“filename2.txt”); and change file name in it.



Similarly you can add multiple folders or directories by repeating $zip->addEmptyDir(“folder_name2”); and enter your new folder name in it.



You should do it before closing the zip archive. This above code is enough to generate a zip file in PHP.



Previously, I have shared a tutorial on how to create a zip file using PHP and download multiple files.



But in this tutorial, I will share more detailed examples to cater different requirements of your application.



What is a ZIP Archive?



ZIP is an archive file format which is mainly use to combine multiple files of a folders and compress the data. However, you can add only one file or folder in it.



It is easy to share multiple files via zip archive and a recommended way to share multiple files over the internet. However, there is no restriction to share single file in it.



User can download several files individually but it takes too much time, therefore if you need to share multiple files with user so use zip archive file format.



Can I Create Multiple Zip Files with Same Name?



Well the quick answer of this question is NO, if you create the multiple zip files with same name then it will simply replace the existing zip file with the new one.



You can check it out by creating a new zip file, then make a little changes in your filename.txt text file and then again create a zip file.



It will simply replace the zip file and new zip file will contain the updated version of  filename.txt text file.



So you can create your zip file with a unique name, a good example to create a unique zip file name is below:







The above code will give you a unique name for your zip file so that it does not replace the previous zip file in the same directory or folder.



Example #2: Create a Zip File in PHP, Add File with New Name in Zip



You can create a zip file in PHP and add file in it, by default it adds the file with the same name. However, you can define the new name of that file in your zip file.



addFile('filename.txt', 'new_filename_in_zip.txt');



You will need to pass first argument as the real file which you want to add and second argument will be the new file name in your zip file.



You actually define the filename in zip archive as a second argument in addFile() function.

When you logged in to your hosting cPanel,  you will see your home directory path on the right sidebar.



General Information -> Home Directory.







You will simply need to mention the home directory and sub-domain in your $directory variable like below:

PHP provides a built in super global variable $_SERVER that holds quite useful information in it. We can easily use this $_SERVER variable to get the client IP address in PHP.



The below PHP code will return the IP address of a user in PHP.







However, the above code may give you incorrect IP address if the user is using the Proxy. But we have another solution that will resolve this issue.



Method 02:



You can use this custom PHP function which will give you the actual IP address of user in PHP even if the user is using the proxy.



This function also checks if user is using the proxy and proxy can have multiple IP addresses then it will pick the last IP address which is the most reliable IP address.

How To Automatically Logout Inactive User in PHP

In this tutorial, I will show you how to automatically logout inactive user in PHP.



If the user is inactive for more than 15 minutes (900 seconds) and does not click any other page then this user will be considered as inactive user and automatic logout after 15 minutes of inactivity in PHP.



You can set any time interval based on your application requirement, just multiply the minutes to 60. For example 30 * 60 = 1800 now you can set 30 minutes (1800 seconds) of user inactivity. 



I presume that you already know about how to create user registration and login system in PHP.



If you do not have any idea about it then you check out my tutorial about it.



I will add code of automatic logout after 15 minutes of user inactivity using PHP in my PHP user registration and login script tutorial.



Default PHP Session Timeout



PHP login system uses the session mechanism to keep the user logged in. Generally by default the PHP session timeout is 24 minutes which is equivalent to 1440 seconds.



When you are using session, your PHP page should contain session_start() function in the beginning of the page.



This function create a new session or resumes the old one.



So that you can create new sessions variables or access them on different pages.



Last User Activity Timestamp



When the user logged in to the application, you will need to create a new session variable $_SESSION[‘last_timestamp’] = time(); which will contain user’s last activity timestamp.



Whenever a new web page is loaded or the current page is refreshed.



We will need to check the time difference between the current time and the user’s last activity time.



If the time difference is more than 15 minutes (900 seconds) then log out the user by simply destroying the session data and redirect user back to the login screen.



Following is the sample code that you will need to put in the top of on every page.



This code will check the user’s inactivity and log the user out from the application, if the inactivity is more than 15 minutes.



PHP Code:

    session_destroy();

    //Redirect user to login page

You will need to place this code in the beginning of all pages where you want to implement automatic logout feature.



Add HTML Meta http-equiv



Although the above PHP code will work but you will need to refresh the page to execute the PHP code.



So you can add the meta http-equiv refresh in the  section of your pages to force refresh the pages after 15 minutes.



Add the following code in your file.







Although the demo of this tutorial is not possible. However, I have created a demo link that will show you how the session is automatically destroyed after 30 seconds.



For demo purpose, I am using only 30 seconds so that you do not need to wait longer than that.

I am getting input of email address using this HTML form. When user press the submit button, the form will be submitted then I can validate email address input field data.



I am also displaying the error and success message to the user, but this message will be visible to user after form submission.

In the above PHP code, I am checking that when user submit the form first check that email address is not empty.



If the email address is not empty then validate the email address format using our filter_var($email, FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL) and passing our email variable and FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL filter as arguments.



It will return true if the email address is valid, otherwise it will return false.



Additionally, I am also using checkdnsrr() to check the domain address in email is valid or not. However, this function does not validate if email exist on this domain.



But I am trying to remove errors as much as possible so that our data is in proper format.



Actually, checking the existence of domain name simply ensures that there is no typo error from user input in email address domain name.

How to Validate Email Address in JavaScript

In this tutorial, I will show you how to validate email address in JavaScript. Email address validation is very common task which you will need to perform on several HTML forms such as user registration form, user login form or any other form which is taking user email address as input.



Although HTML 5 also provides an input type email (type=”email”) which also validate email address format but it will accept incomplete email address.



For example if you type this email “myname@gmail” so it will consider this email as valid. However this email address is incorrect.



Therefore, I will use both input type email and JavaScript method as well to validate the email address on the client side, so that I get the valid email address after the form submission.



There are various ways and functions in which you can do email validation in JavaScript. 



I will create a JavaScript function for email validation and I will set a pattern in this function and then if a variable passed the test of that pattern then the email is valid.



Here is the code for email validation using JS, just create an index.html file and paste the following HTML code in it.

This is just a simple HTML form which is taking email address as input and on form submit it is executing the function formsubmit().



Now, add the following two JavaScript Function in the bottom of the same page before  tag.

The above JavaScript code having one function which is validating the email address and other function which will be executed on the form submission.



This function first check if email address is empty then give alert to the user and focus back to email field and if email is not empty then perform the validation of the email address using JavaScript.

Check if String Contains Digits Only in PHP

In this tutorial, I will show you how to check if string contains digits only in PHP. There are various occasions when you need to check whether string or variable contains only numeric digits using PHP.



PHP provides a built in is_numeric() function to check if string is number or not. This function returns true if the value is number. However, the problem with this function is that it returns true even if string contains a float number.



And if you purely want to check if string is digits only without decimal like float number then you have to use other ways to get your desired result.



There are many ways to do that I will share two methods with you to check if string contains numeric digits using PHP.




Check String Using preg_match() Function



Check String Using Custom isNumber() Function




Method 01: Check String Using preg_match() Function



The first method is that using a PHP preg_match() function, this function perform the regular expression and returns 1 if it found the match.



I will use this function and pass it the two arguments, first argument will be the pattern which will check that string is only numeric digits and second argument will be our variable which contains our string to check.



Here is the code, just create an index.php file and paste the following code in it.

In the above code, I have set two variables, one contains a valid digits only string while other contains an invalid digits string as it also contains decimal. If string contain alphabets, it will also consider as an invalid string.



After that I have created our pattern variable which is passed to our preg_match() function, if our variable string passed the pattern then it is a valid digits string.



Method 02: Check String Using Custom isNumber() Function



The second method is to check string using our custom isNumber() function, first I have to create this function then I will pass our string variable to check if it contains a valid numeric digits only.



Create another is_number.php file and paste the below code in it.

Our custom isNumber() function also return 1 if the string is a valid digits only. So I will simply pass our string variable to isNumber() function and check if it return 1 or not.

How to Encrypt Decrypt String in PHP

In this tutorial, I will show you how to encrypt decrypt string in PHP. Encryption is very common in programming languages, it helps to secure our data even if it is accessed by unauthorize person.



I will create a PHP encryption decryption function which I will use to encrypt and decrypt my string.



You will need to make sure that you update the secret key and secret_iv before using this function.



I have added sample secret key and secret_iv in my function so that you can easily view the demo of this encryption and decryption function.



This function is using the openssl_encrypt and openssl_decrypt along with base64_encode and base64_decode respectively to encrypt and decrypt string in PHP.



1. Create an index.php File



Create an index.php file and paste the following code in it.

After that I decrypt that encrypted variable using our PHP function and then print it on the screen.

How To Import CSV File Data into MySQL Database using PHP

In this tutorial, I will show you how to import CSV file data into MySQL database using PHP. Uploading the bulk data using CSV is a common practice in application development.



A CSV (comma-separated values) is a file format which stores data into table form similar to excel data. However, CSV file does not support any formatting or styling, it simply store data into plain text form.



All the values in CSV file are comma separated therefore, it is called CSV file format.



Now you must be thinking that why do we need CSV for data uploading, when we know that user can manually insert data into MySQL database.



When you are building application then you may need to add multiple data records exceeding thousands or even hundred of thousands. 



No body can insert these huge amount of data manually, therefore we develop the program to import CSV file data into MySQL database using PHP.



Previously I have also shared a tutorial about how to create and export a CSV file using PHP. This means sometimes you also need to create a CSV file of your MySQL data and download that CSV file for further processing or backup purpose.



Steps to Import CSV File Data into MySQL Database using PHP



Follow the below steps to import CSV file data into MySQL database using PHP.




Create a Database with name allphptricks



Create a Table in DB with name import_csv_data



Create an index.php File



Create an style.css File in CSS Directory




1. Create a Database with name allphptricks



To create a allphptricks database run the following query in the MySQL.



CREATE DATABASE allphptricks;



2. Create a Table in DB with name import_csv_data



To create the table run the following query in the above created DB.

  `name` varchar(255) NOT NULL,
  `email` varchar(255) NOT NULL,

I will use this table to store all CSV imported data, you can add/remove any column as per your application needs, but make sure that you upload CSV file with same number of column data.

I am using the PDO Prepared Statements to insert data into database, you can learn more about PHP CRUD operations using PDO prepared statements.



Make sure that you update your database credentials in dbclass.php which is available in download of this tutorial. This dbclass.php is also available in my above PHP PDO prepared statements tutorial.



I am also validating the CSV file before insert into database, first make sure that file is selected, then check the file extension.



I placed maximum 1 MB file size limit for uploading and maximum 3 number of rows to add in CSV, you can skip this number of rows limit or you can utilize this limit by mentioning your own numbers like 1000 or 50000.



4. Create an style.css File in CSS Directory



Create an style.css file and paste the following code in the file.
